Why not both?
When I first see a client for their initial consultation, I follow a structured sequence to ensure I assess all the body’s systems. However, sometimes I go slightly off script if something looks or feels different. I may spend a little more time on a particular reflex or work it in a different way to gauge how it responds to touch.
Combined with the information from your consultation form, this allows me to create a treatment plan tailored to your individual aims and needs.
Step 1 – Consultation, chat and treatment
During this stage, we’re getting to know each other. I am learning about you while creating a space where you can relax and share what you feel you ‘think’ need. (I say “think” because sometimes your mind and body have other ideas about what they want to reveal!)
As I work, I’m assessing how your feet respond to the reflexes being stimulated or soothed. Alongside our conversation, your feet tell their own story as your body begins its journey back towards balance.
Step 2 – Post-treatment feedback
How did you feel during the treatment? How do you feel afterwards? Did anything come up for you emotionally or physically? Do you notice any changes?
Step 3 – Your personalised treatment plan
I bring together everything I’ve learned from your consultation form, our conversation, your feedback and the treatment itself.
From this, I create a plan focusing on the reflexes that need attention and how they should be worked — whether that means a gentler touch, firmer pressure, shorter treatment on a reflex or a little longer where needed.
Step 4 – Your next treatment
At your next appointment, I’ll follow the treatment plan while also adapting to any changes that have occurred since we last met. Life changes between treatments, both physically and emotionally, and because reflexology works on physical, emotional and mental levels, this is where intuition becomes an important part of the process.
Your feet become familiar with my touch, and your nervous system remembers the sense of calm and relaxation from previous treatments.
Over the last few years, I’ve worked on well over 100 pairs of feet and completed hundreds of hours of treatments. Through that experience, I’ve learned how to respond to what your feet are telling me — often highlighting areas that may need attention before you’ve consciously recognised them yourself.
So, which is more important: planning or intuition?
The answer is both.
A structured treatment plan provides direction, while intuition allows me to respond to what your body needs in the moment. Together, they help bring your body and mind back into balance so you can feel calmer, more rested and better equipped to face life’s challenges.
Take care, and don’t forget to book your next appointment so we can continue supporting your wellbeing and helping you find your balance.
